Sailboats: Go Green – Go Sailing!
So your a Boater who love the open Waters but wants to avoid the rising cost of fuel and reduce mechanical dependency, then a Sailboat is the Boat for you.
Sailboats come in a variety of types and sizes. To find the right one for you, ask yourself: going off-shore? Or in-land bodies of Water? Want to stay out on the Water overnight – weekend getaways? Or just like day sailing? How many will be with you when I head out? These questions will guide you in the direction of the size and type of Sailboat you need.
The most common type of Sailboat is the Sloop. This design comes with one mast and has a mainsail and a foresail with a mono-hull or single hull. This design range in size from either a day sailer or a live-aboard style that can remain out on the Waters for days with generators that produce electricity and desalinating systems that produce clean, fresh Water.
Similar to the Sloop with a single mast the Catamaran or multi-hulls Boats offer two hulls versus the one hull the Sloop has. Because the Catamaran comes with two hulls it creates a much more stable ride and when anchored. This type of hull design is slightly faster on the Water then the mono-hull or single hull Sloop but you give up interior space with a multi-hull versus a mono-hull Sailboat. Be sure to take a look at both hull designs before making your decision.
Whatever Sailboat you chose you will certainly enjoy the peaceful, tranquil ride it offers as Mother-Nature pushes you along without any noise or humming of the engines. These Boats are great for entertaining, going off-shore, sleeping on-board or just plain cruising. There is never a shortage of Wind Power! GO GREEN – GO SAILING!
The most common Sailboat Manufacturers are Hunter, Sunfish, Beneteau and more…
